Hope I don't cause confusion posting that in this thread, it should maybe have been a comment in your thread. Given that there also appear to be discrepancies between our boards and the parts layout diagramme around the transistor you're investigating, I'd probably be inclined to use the schematic diagramme to identify the pins and use the manufacturer's data sheet for whichever equivalent you select to correctly identify the emitter, base and collector pins. Looking at the parts list page you kindly attached, I see no mention of the mythical R204 there either. The corresponding pin on the molex plug on my organ is unpopulated. That pin on the molex socket on my 1969 (and yours) is attached via a yellow wire to the WH RCA output. On the left hand side of that unit, the R233 end, there's a voltage tapped off by means of a resistor/capacitor/zener diode and carried via a red wire to the centre-right pin of the Perc. Both our AO-42's differ from the parts layout, and take a wee look at the modification on my 1972 unit. I should have said I can't see R204 on the board, only on the parts layout. I must correct an error in my previous post. I can see the resistor in question on the board and also on the parts layout you attached, although both yours and my boards differ slightly from said parts layout.
